Hi, I am looking for freeware softwares or paid softwares which are very similar to the below products at a reasonable price as i don't have a very big budget. See the products with "*" and click the link you will understand what i want. The ability office suite is just U$ 30.00 when we buy on the web which not only looks very similar to MS office, but also very similar to Adobe photoshop as well, this helps us to work without the need to learn the need tools. So, if it a freeware you will suggest GIMP isn't that an good option, but if nothing is available then it is fine. If the product you're suggessting is freeware, then i will also need the source code for the same and it should also a very same feel like the actual product that we wanted by us. For eg:- if you're suggessting something to replace Fireworks, then the suggessted product should also have the same feel of Fireworks and not otherwise. Please find the list of softwares below: 1. Windows XP Pro English (UPG OLP / OEM)) - 64 bit 2. Windows Server Std 2003 3. Microsoft Office 2003 Pro full edition* Very similar product at reasonable price click to see: http://ability.com/sales/products/office.php?ln=en 4. Adobe Products: a. Creative Suites Std CS 2 b. Photo shop*-similar product at low price: click to see the product http://ability.com/sales/products/paint.php?ln=en c. illustrator. d. Acrobat Pro 7.0 e. Indesign. f. Premier Pro. g. Page maker h. Page Mill 5. Macromedia Products: Studio 8 a. Flash Pro 8. b. Dreamweaver 8. c. Director MX 2004 Full d. Flex, Flash & Swish tools. e. Breeze f. Fireworks g. Cold Fusion h. FreeHand MX i. Fireworks 6. Sound Forge 6.0 7. Indiviual Software Products: a. Resume Maker Pro 12.0 & Career Edition (http://www.individualsoftware.com/new/consumer/store/resume_sw.htm) 8. CRM Software to handle a HR Staffing company & IT software support. 9. ERP software which has the HR, Accounting, Stock cum Material Mgmt, Point-Of-Sale, Build Tools, covering all areas from order and customer/supplier management, supply chain to accounting. I am ready to offer a good tip for a good answer as well. Thanks, Arun. |

I have been thinking about your desired programs, and I must respectfully state that what you ask is nearly impossible. This is because you add one condition which makes it nearly impossible. You want programs that are free or nearly so to very expensive programs, but if I understand you, they must have the same feel. When people use their time to create something which is not going to make them any money, and which may replace a very expensive program, they do not always have "same feel" on their project list. They want to make a replacement program, but don't necessarily want to dramatically increase their work load, so you don't need to learn a new application when you get the free program. Or, in many cases, the benefit of writing a major program is you get to lay it out to suit yourself, rather than being forced to imitate another lay out. In the case of GIMP, it is unlikely you are going to get a better replacement cheap or free for PhotoShop. On various linux forums, the whiners come on and say, gosh, GIMP simply doesn't do all the stuff Photoshop does, and everything is done differentl. From time to time, someone will say, hey, I work for a professional graphics company, and we only use GIMP. yeah, things are done differently, but in reality we don't use all those mini functions that Photoshop has, so we can do everything we need to do using GIMP. And then it becomes obvious the whiners really don't use all those functions either, they just want everyone to know Gimp doesn't do everyting that Photoshop can do. Yes, you would need to relearn GIMP, or pay for Photoshop, it's that simp And, OpenOffice, especially 2.0, but to a great extent 1.x will do everything most people use MS Office for. yeah, you will have to learn a new feel, or pay for all those licenses. As they say, there ain't no such thing as a free lunch. |

Hi irlandes, Thanks for your detailed comment and your insight. I do understand what you're trying to state, but i am running a huge setup across 3 continents, each of my boys have their own opinion. I just posted this hoping someone will be in a position to tell me something more than what we already know. We aren't looking for any free breakfast, keep aside the lunch, just kidding.. It was a try from our end. I think we will wait and see if anyone comes up with something very concrete. I did mention that we are okay for a freeware as well as far as it is abit similar to the tool mentioned. So, we are open, if anyone answer's this I-M-Possible question, we would see to that he is rewarded suitably. Thanks again, let us know if you have knowledge of any freewares which will help us for the tools we mentioned.. Cheers! |

Off the top of my head Open source Vector Graphics program similar to Fireworks and Illustrator http://www.inkscape.org/ Cheap Photoshop clone ($32) http://pixel32.box.sk/ 64bit operating system (to replace Windows XP Pro and Server) http://www.ubuntu.org (great hardware support) Open source Office suite, openoffice also writes to PDF so is a brilliant free alternative to Adobe Acrobat http://www.openoffice.org/ |
