I wanted to do training based on popular business books that I have
read. My idea is to give them only a 2 hour summary of the main
points of the book and an outline for them to take notes. Then have
an open discussion. Would I be infringing on any copyright by doing
this?

I noticed there are a lot of business summaries web site, in which you
pay a nominal fee (say $5) for the summary of a business book. Are
there exceptions to copyrights to enable anyone to summarize, critique
or teach a subject?

Yes, it is called fair use and codified at 17 U.S.C. 107. See:

But it is murky to apply in practice and more importantly any license
you agreed to may dramatically change the outcome.
