On October 29, 2005 the brilliant policeman-criminologist Dr. Kim Rossmo accepted the 2005 Sterling Prize in Support of Controversy and gave a speech entitled, "Loyalty to the Truth". http://www.sfu.ca/sterlingprize/ --Please find the full text of his speech, if it is available -- Loyalty to the Truth Rossmo earned a PhD for his innovation in computerized geographic profiling. Held in high esteem by then Vancouver Police Department (VPD) Chief Canuel Rossmo headed up a geographic profiling unit and was consultant to police services in many other jurisdictions. Not everyone was as visionary as Chief Canuel who left in 1997. Rossmo told senior officers in 1998 that a serial killer may be the cause of the statistically significant elevated rate of female disappearances on Skid Row. They did not believe him. In 2000 they let him go. Budgets. In 2001 VPD teamed up with RCMP and within a year an alleged serial killer was arrested and subsequently charged with 27 counts of first degree murder spanning many years. |

Since I couldn't find this on the web and the speech was recent, I wrote to Dr. Rossmo about future prospects. Here is his reply: "Not at this time, but I believe SFU may make a condensed version available eventually. Cheers. Kim Rossmo" |
