I want a grayscale monitor. How can I achieve this. Can you tell me
where to buy a grayscale monitor (as cheap as possible), I tried the
medical monitor and the cheapest I got is 1800. If you want to go to
this direction, provide me with the price lower than 1000. or you can
tell me how to adjust my window xp system and turn it into grayscale.
It means I can do everything with the grayscale screen, watching
movie, browsing the internet and doing excel.
I know very old computer has this kind of function. Or you can tell
me to install some software that can turn the monitor into grayscale.
I still want to do everything on the computer. Or you can tell me
where to buy a grayscale monitor card under 300 dollar.
I want to do this because I have eye injuries so I can't watch color
computer monitor for more than 20 minutes. It is a big trouble. I sincerely
hope someone can help me out.

Please remember that the solution must be as cheap as possible.
If it is not effective or above 500. it is very likely that I won't
be satisfied and ask for a refund.

jowei-ga,

Who knew it was so hard to go grayscale?

Monochrome monitors seem to be a rather schizoid commodity -- either
very expensive medical type monitors, or very cheap B&W computer
monitors.

In the latter category, several stores seem to have available the
"Miracle Monochrome" monitor, as you can see listed here:

http://www.nextag.com/serv/main/buyer/ProductM.jsp?nxtg=701d0a1c050f-8E95E5DDC81031D3&page=1&pdir=3&lgnode=300265&display_mode=0&node=300265&lgsearch=&ptitle=55289718&core=&kw=Miracle_Business_Miracle_Monochrome

This *may* meet your needs, and for only $100 or so, it seems worth a shot.

However, I haven't really been able to find specs or reviews of the
monitor. Try giving one (or more) of the stores a call, and see if
they can provide any additional details.

Or if you'd rather we did that from our end, just let me know, and
I'll see what I can find out.

Let me know if this fits your needs.

If you have a fairly new Pc, you should be able to use the graphics
cards options to change the screen from colour to greyscale without
too much fuss.

For ATI cards, use the display proerties in the Control Panel, go to
the settings tab and seee if there is a setting in here. If not your
should be able to use a free program called ATI Tray Tools, and this
will enable you to change the colours.

For Nvida cards, the method above works, you will have to download
their own utility, does exist on their site, and then try its options.

If you require further clarification, let me know.

Thank you very much. I tried your method and it worked. However, the
quality is not very good. I use 8 bit and the screen will turns black
scale. Everytime I open another window, I have to use the hot key in
the program to turn it grayscale. Do you know any way that can
enhance the quaility of the screen or how to use the program well?
