Yahoo Finance notes that the Del Monte Foods started in 1916.
However, there is some conflict with the official website. I realized
that the company website should be more reliable but I will still
include Del Monte Foods since they might be of interest to your
research.

17. Del Monte Foods ? 90th Anniversary (1916) (Official website says unknown year)
Profile: http://finance.yahoo.com/q/pr?s=DLM
History: http://www.delmonte.com/Company/AboutUs/Profile.asp

Search strategy used:
Step1: Use the search terms - Founded incorporated site:finance.yahoo.com

Step 2: Then Insert the following years: 1886,1896, 1906, 1916, 1926,
1936, 1946, 1956, 1966, 1976, 1986

I hope these links would help you in your research. Before rating this
answer, please ask for a clarification if you have a question or if
you would need further information.

Regards,

Thanks easterangel-ga

You have done a great job.

However I'm a little confused with the explanation of Step 1 and Step
2. I've used Google to search for "Founded incorporated
site:finance.yahoo.com" and I understand how that works. But when you
say "Then Insert the following years: 1886,1896, 1906, 1916, 1926,
1936, 1946, 1956, 1966, 1976, 1986" I can't see where to insert the
years? Can you please explain.

I deeply apologize. I admit that my explanation was quite vague.

You should insert one year at a time to get a set of companies. Here
is an example of a search result.

As you can see the following terms were typed on the search box.

founded site:finance.yahoo.com 1886

I hope this clears up my explanation.

Thanks again!

Hello again Easter Angel - Thank you for your explanation.
If I wanted to refine the search down to the Australian, or English or
Irish businesses that were founded in 1956 (a) is it possible and (b)
where would I add the the word.

Here: founded site:finance.yahoo.com 1956 Australia

or here: Australia founded site:finance.yahoo.com 1956 Australia

or here: founded Australia site:finance.yahoo.com 1956 Australia

or where?

Hi again.

Sorry it seems it doesn't work for these countries with these search
terms. I think you will have to go and dig inside Yahoo Finance. I
already tried that and it it too hard to find the companies that you
require.

I'm sorry.

Thanks.

Hi again.

When you say around the world I thought you mean that they operate
internationally and not just having headquarters or originating
outside the US. Most of the companies I mentioned have international
operations.

It seems that Yahoo Finance has the most consistent coverage of when
companies were established and their coverage is limited when it comes
to foreign entities. As you can see sometimes, even their data doesn't
agree with the company history itself.

I hope that this information will be helpful to you.
