Hello. Your book is "River Thieves" by Michael Crummey. Here is a description from Mr Crummey's web site: "At the turn of the nineteenth century, naval officer David Buchan arrives in the Bay of Exploits with orders to establish contact with the Beothuk or "Red Indians," the aboriginal inhabitants of Newfoundland who are on the verge of extinction." http://www.michaelcrummey.com/thieves.htm Order from Barnes & Noble: http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearch/isbnInquiry.asp?isbn=0618145311 Or Amazon.com: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0618145311/ search strategy: newfoundland, novel, beothuks I hope this helps. |
