I am running Ubuntu Linux (Breezy) and have a Dual Head setup.

The only problem is that gnome runs the same session on both monitors,
is there a away to get gnome to run seperate sessions, or even load a
different wm on the second monitor.

When you say the gnome is running the same session on both monitors,
do you mean that it is running in clone mode (the same thing is
displayed on both screens)?

If so, do an apt-get install fglrx-control
and then run fireglcontrol.

make sure you xorg.conf is setup for dual head. See

no, its not clone mode, its just the same gnome session, i can start
diff apps on each monitor and all that, its just when gnome starts, it
will auto-start the apps i defined on both heads instead of just the
primary.

I've read the post and I'm a bit confused. It sounds as though you
have the xwindows handling the dual head properly, but the session
manager is screwing up. Try deleting the session profile. Also, check
to see if there is a flag or control that is set to give such an
output. I'm running dual head on an Nvida/Intel P4 machine with no
redundancy to my desktops. Hope that helps.

Also what GPU/Video card are you using?
