Hi Chris Everyone's heard of Amazon right? They're the largest online bookstore http://Amazon.com but what many people don't realize is you can also sell your own books on their site. I believe this would be a great way for you to move some of your book inventory. Here's how to do it: 1) Go to Amazon and do a search for the title of one of the books you want to sell. 2) On the results page that comes up if multiple listings appera click on the correct title of the book you have. 3) On this page you'll see a box on the right hand side of the page with a button that says "Sell Yours Here". Click on it. Then you'll just follow through and answer the various questions about the condition of your book, any comments on the condition, and enter the price you wish to sell for. Amazon does not charge to list your books but if it sells they will charge you a commission of .99 and 15% of the sales price then deposit the rest into your account. They call it the "Amazon Marketplace" see http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/subst/misc/sell-your-stuff.html/qid=1132034789/sr=53-1/ref=tr_105441/104-2050582-4127964 Since Amazon receives so much traffic I think it would be an ideal place for you to sell a lot of books. For more specific information see "How Marketplace Selling Works" at http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/browse/-/1161238/ref=sdp_slp_qu1/104-2050582-4127964 I hope you have found this answer helpful and good luck with the selling of your books. You might also consider eBay or half.com. Both charge less than Amazon if your book sells, but eBay charges whether your book sells or not. http://www.half.ebay.com/ http://www.ebay.com/ And of course, your local used book stores, if any. |

I sell different vintage books on http://www.goantiques.com/members/five4us. I just sold a Ginn Reader vintage book. I don't think it all has to be vintage there either. |

I agree with the above posts in that selling these books yourself online is a good solution, assuming you want to obtain the best price for your books and don't mind investing the time involved in selling them individually. In my experience, on Amazon Marketplace your books will generally sell faster and for the best price, and it is also very user friendly. Selling your books on Amazon would require much less of your time than eBay, for example, and you'd probably get a higher price than on eBay, or by trading them in at a used bookshop. If you don't want the hassle of selling them individually, another option is to donate them to your local library or a local charity, who may be willing to pick them up. You can get a tax deduction for donating books. Usually when books are donated to a library, they're resold to the public at a monthly sale, and it provides a nice way for the library to raise funds for their operations. If you're interested in selling the books online, it's a pretty simple process to set up a seller account on Amazon. They'll charge you a 15 percent commission plus a 99-cent fee on each sale. If you don't have any sales, you won't pay anything. eBay has a lower commission structure, but you have to make an up-front payment to begin selling. I publish a daily blog on the topic of online bookselling, and if you have additional questions you're welcome to contact me through the "ask a question" link on the top right of the blog. It's at: <a href="http://www.weberbooks.com/selling/selling.htm"> http://www.weberbooks.com/selling/selling.htm</a> Another option is for you to sell the whole collection as a bulk lot in the "wholesale" section of eBay. This could be the most time-efficient way for your to unload your books -- you could ship the whole collection to the winning bidder via Postal Service Media Mail (book rate), which is fairly cheap. However, if you don't already have a track record as an eBay seller, you might have trouble attracting bids on the auction. |
