I am interested in learning about all the Presidents of the United
States. What I need help finding are books about them. I would like
to find either a set of books or individual books - one about each
president that cover their life story, political history and just
basically a comprehensive biography. I would like them to be from
reputable sources or at least not ficticously based. Price is not
very important as long as they aren't outragously priced. I am
looking for online shopping or stores in/around the Chicago area. Thank you!

Editorial Review

?This is the consummate guide to the political and personal lives of
every U. S. president through Bill Clinton. Arranged chronologically,
The Complete Book of U.S. Presidents elaborates not only on the major

Court appointments, hobbies, ethnic backgrounds, and even extramarital
affairs. Well-organized and packed with details, the book also
includes a bibliography on each executive, including books written by
and about them, along with useful and entertaining appendixes on the
political composition of every Congress, presidential curiosities
(such as the uncanny similarities between the lives and deaths of
Abraham Lincoln and John F. Kennedy), and a ranking of presidents.
Whether you want to know the opponent of James Monroe in the election
of 1816 or read some of Harry S. Truman's more memorable quotes, this

Man of the People: A Life of Harry S. Truman

EISENHOWER by Stephen E. Ambrose
?In this admiring and enormously readable revision/condensation of his
acclaimed two-volume biography, published in 1983 and 1984, Ambrose
reminds us that this "great and good man" was the most successful
general of the greatest war ever fought and the only president of this
century to preside over eight years of peace and prosperity. Tracing
Eisenhower's family background, education, military and political
careers, and influence as elder statesman, the author chronicles
Eisenhower's triumphs and failures and at the same time provides a
vivid picture of the off-duty Ike. .. This is the definitive
one-volume biography of Eisenhower.?

Richard Nixon: Stephen Ambrose's three-volume "Nixon"

Nixon: The Education of a Politician 1913-1962 by Ambrose, Stephen E
? This is the first volume in Stephen Ambrose's three-volume biography
of Nixon. It covers his boyhood in California and his college years;
his election to Congress, where he gained notice as a member of the
HUAC and leader in the attack on Alger Hiss; his two terms as
Eisenhower's vice-president; and his unsuccessful run for the
presidency in 1960 against Kennedy. It concludes with Nixon's 1962
defeat for the governorship of California--which seemed at the time to
signal the ignominious end of Nixon's publiclife.?
