I need a table with a listing of all the Wal-Mart stores ever opened,
their locations (zipcodes are good), opening dates, closing dates if
applicable, and whether these stores are Wal-marts, Supercenters or
neighborhood stores.
Available from Wal-Mart's website is a list of currently operating
stores with this info. I believe that the missing info (about stores
that opened and then closed) can be filled in using 10-K filings,
since each annual report will list the stores. |

macromac07-ga,
I think the silence on this question so far has been telling. The
task of recreating the history of every Wal-Mart store there ever was
is simply too large an undertaking for a service like Google Answers,
with a $200 per question maximum fee. My guess is this would take at
least $10K of a consulting firm's time to put together.
Is there anything else we can do for in a more manageable vein?
Let us know.

Hi pafalafa-ga,
Perhaps I was not as clear as I could have been. I appreciate the
opportunity to make this work somehow. I have several comments.
1) The list should have Wal-Mart store number/name (even is this is
unofficial), a location (preferably zip code, but city and state would
suffice) and the year that the store opened and the year closed (if
applicable).
2) The list could start in 1970 when Wal-Mart went public. (It is not
important to have the info from 1962, the date of Wal-Mart's
founding.) From IPO forward there was a 10K filed annually that
contains the name of each store (maybe with a store number, certainly
with a location). This is where the information is most readily
available as far as I know.
3) Additionally, there exists from Wal-Mart right now a list of
current stores with their locations and opening dates. What the
project requires then is just checking against the 10K filings for
differences and seeing where stores closed.
Last but not least:
4)Finally, my greatest priority is on the years 1975-1988. So, if a
list limited to these years is doable, I would welcome it, for the
same price.
Many thanks.

Your original question was quite clear, as was (I hope) my remarks.
My opinion hasn't changed...I still think this is a much larger task
than can be done for the amount offered.
