Question ID: 594310
I am undertaking a career search and am looking for a list of private
biotechnology and medical device companies in the SF Bay Area. I am
interested in understanding which of these companies is "hot," or seen
to be doing very well, as judged by industry insiders, third-party
analysts, well-known reporters, etc. If the researcher could provide
several different sources for this that would be fantastic (premium
put on more recent, up-to-date results.) I would
also like to understand the financial health of these companies (how
much capital they have raised, timing, which investors, etc). Ideally
the answer would include the general area of business, stage of drugs
/ devices in pipeline, etc. I understand the answer may include
several sources that do not perfectly overlap. I am especially
looking for information that may very hard to get unless you had
access to resources that are usually outside of the public domain.

Hello sfrsch-ga,

I see that you've only posted two questions so far -- and you canceled
one very quickly. You might want to review these links so that you can
get the most out of Google Answers.

Identifying "hot" companies might be possible but evaluating their
financial situation will be much tougher since you're specifically
asking about private companies.

Considering the depth and complexity of your question and the price
you've posted, how many companies are you expecting as a suitable
answer to your question?

I look forward to your clarification.

Hi czh, thanks for your interest.

A list of 25 or so companies would do the trick, though I would point
out that I am specifically interested in Bay Area companies that have
received some external validation within the industry / trade press /
third-party research (preferrably by a couple of sources) as being the
"hot" or promising ones.

I understand financial details will be hard to get, though I do know
of private databases (VentureWire, OneSource, etc) out there that
would have most of the detail, so I am hoping there are other forums
for this kind of material that can be accessed. The Daily Deal is one
such public source. Ultimately I am hoping that a smart and
well-resourced researcher will do much better than I could if I
invested the time.

I realize I cancelled one of my questions immediately after posting, I
did this so I could allocate more budget to this question as it is the
most important to me, and I have not used Google Answers before.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
