We urgently need help constructing a list with contact information for
executives of U.S. energy companies. These would be top executive
officers (CEO, COO, CFO, EXEC or SR. VPs for operations, marketing,
strategic planning. The information we seek, in tab-delineated or
comma-delineated format (Excel spreadsheet would be ideal) includes:
Name, Title, Company Name, Address, Telephone, E-mail address, and
website URL.

This is for a marketing project for energy advisory services. If this
works, and if you want to do more, we are interested in expanding this
project with additional queries.

Below is a list of the industry groups covered by this query. These
are taken from Yahoo Finance (you may categorize them somewhat
differently if you use a different source). Companies listed under
these industry groups in Yahoo Finance would be a good starting point.

Let us know what you can do and when.

Thanks,

Mokester-ga

Welcome back mokester-ga!

I have few questions.

a. When you say contact information, do you mean general company
contact information? I asked since if you need the direct phone line
or email to the executive, it is most probably not available for the
public.

b. When you say for example (top 20 or top 50) what is the basis of
the ranking? Could it be reveneus or capitalization? If we don't find
a ranking how do we proceed?

Thanks!

Hi, easterangel -- thanks for response!

Main phone number for company is acceptable. Try to get email if
possible (the query form on company website doesnt' really help).

As to ranking, either market cap or revenues is fine -- your choice!

Hi again!

Is it ok if we list just one executive?

Clarification of Question by mokester-ga on 17 Nov 2005 16:00 PST
No, we really need the "key executives". THey're all listed in Yahoo
Finance (among many other sources, or company websites). Do you know
how to use Yahoo Finance? If you go to http://finance.yahoo.com, down
the left hand side, under "Investing" you will find a "Industries."
Click on Energy, and that will take you to the sub-industry groups and
to the top companies in each p (by several different measures). You
should be able to find most of what you need here. When you click on a
companies name, there are links to a wealth of information. The
profile page gives you those key executives, the company's HQ address
and phone number, and link to their website.

Hope this helps. Of course you may use whatever other sources you find helpful.

Hi magain mokester!

I just completed the top 30 for Independent Oil & Gas based on Market
Capitalization. A little problem as I went along...

The "Oil & Gas Drilling and Exploration" sector (where you want the
top 50) meanwhile lists more then 50 companies but it only has data
for the top 44. In cases like these, can I just fill-up the rest with
what Yahoo Finance has on its table for that sector?

Thanks!

Absolutely. Thanks for checking.

Hi, Easterangel

How's it going? Could you give us a status report and an estimate of
when you might be able to complete the project?

Thanks!

Hi mokester-ga!

Still plugging away here. It is taking quite a while due to the number
of companies. Plus some of the info are not all available on the Yahoo
page so you have to make some Google searches. Ihave already completed
the following:

Independent Oil & Gas (top 30)
Oil & Gas Drilling and Exploration (top 50)
Oil and Gas Equipment and Services (top 50)
Oil and Gas Pipelines (top 10)

I hope to be finish by tomorrow (Pacific Time).

Thank you for your patience.

I will provide the list as an Excel file.

Hi Mokester!

I am also having troubles with the email info. Eventhough you say that
I can include it only if possible, I am still trying to find what I
can. Most of them really just use the contact form but lots of them
provide email for Investor Relations. I still included them since they
can refer you to the appropriate departments.

I hope this is ok with you.

Thanks again!

Clarification of Question by mokester-ga on 18 Nov 2005 18:46 PST
Okay, just so we know which is an IR contact (i.e., don't put the IR
email address on other names-- better to leave it blank, so we don't
send an email addressed to the wrong person. Hope that's not too
confusing. I know email addresses are tough, so just do the best you
can.

Thanks again.

Hi again mokester!

Please take note that the email information I got are general email
addresses much like the other types of contact email information.
Again company executives do not usually publish email addresses since
they may receive lots of them in their inbox.

If you are looking for specific email addresses, I do not have them.
Do you still want me to continue with general email information or I
will just them take together with the investment relations email data.

Can you reply ASAP so I can go on?

Thanks!

Hi!

I have already completed the Excel file. Knowing some of the
limitations I mentioned, would you like me to post it now as an
official answer?

Thanks!

I am confused. Did you put the IR email address for everyone from that company?

Hi!

I can take out the IR email addresses if you want. Would you still
like the general email addresses or should I take them out as well?

Thanks.

Clarification of Question by mokester-ga on 19 Nov 2005 14:51 PST
I'm still confused. When did you use IR address and when the "general"
email address? Are these addresses attached to individual executives'
names? I just can't quite visualize how you've organized this. Could
you show me a sample for one company?

(I'm sure we'll work this out okay, and quickly - sounds like you're
basically done, but I'm just not sure I understand what you're
saying.)
Thanks very much. I would also like to do more on this project (as a
separate query, of course) Are you interested?

Hi mokester.

I only found one company, out of the hundreds I checked out, that has
email addresses attached to the names of the executives.

I then had two sets of email, IR and and general email addresses. I
have already taken out the IR addresses. Would you like me to take out
the general ones as well?

I have here a sample entry (Fictitous company). The entry here is
separated by commas, imagine this as an entry in an Excel file. I
organized it this way:

Company Executives Position Address Phone Website Email

Oil Company Don Mack CEO 333 St. 333-23 oilga.com info@oilga.com

I hope this is clear.

Thanks!

Clarification of Question by mokester-ga on 19 Nov 2005 15:44 PST
Now I understand. If you still have the file with IR addresses, I
think that would be preferable to the general info address, but if
not, just send it the way you have it (I don't want you to spend any
more time on this).

Thanks for clarifying. Sounds like we're done.

Thanks very much!

Hi mokester-ga!

Thak you for being very patient and very helpful in this project.

It's a good thing I was able to save the file with the IR emails in
them. Please take note that when you see something like IR@oilga.com
or investorrelations@oilga.com, then those are investor relations
addresses.

There are also email addresses with their names already in them like
james.smith@oilga.com. Maybe you can address that to them
specifically. Some of them are in investor relations, sales or even
marketing.

When you see asterisks *** in the cells immediately after the email
address, these are marketing emails and are very appropriate for your
needs. Some also have emails of the key executives like the CEO or
CFO.

Here is the link to the Excel file.

I hope this would be of great assistance to you.

Yes I would be very interested in case you have more projects in the future.

Regards,
Easterangel-ga

This is really a clarification for similar future queries. Since I
need to be able to sort and otherwise manipulate this data (the reason
it's in a spreadsheet), each cell must be filled for each entry. For
example, the company name must appear for each executive, likewise the
phone, website, etc. Also, the address must be complete in one cell
(doesn't matter if it's long). It will take some time for me to fix
this, but I don't think it would take you much time for you to do it
that way in the first place, would it? I guess I thought that was
obvious, but I should have been more specific.

I appreciate your prompt completion of this project, and will be
posting similar queries, probably in the next day or two.

Thanks very much!

Clarification of Answer by easterangel-ga on 19 Nov 2005 21:09 PST
Hi mokester!

Yes mokester, next time I will try to do it in the format you desired.
Anyway it would be helpful to me if you can upload a sample data in
Excel as well which I can use as a format so that everything will be
clear and there would be no misunderstandings in the future. We
experienced some difficulty in this project since we have to go back
and forth for additional queries trying to imagine the format in our
minds. Reflecting on it now, my mistake would have been not asking you
a sample of the data. Maybe a sample Excel file of the format would
clear all the confusion next time.

Thanks again for your patience and understanding.

Easterangel-ga

Good idea, Easterangel. I'll have to figure out how to upload an Excel
spreadsheet to you next time.

Thanks again.
