Where can I download an ASCII file of the Oxford or Merriam-Webster
dictionary? I need the full 500,000 list of words. Do not need
definitions. |

Hello Mmagic,
I did not find a file of the Oxford or Merriam-Webster dictionary.
Would the Moby Word List meet your needs?
http://www.dcs.shef.ac.uk/research/ilash/Moby/mwords.html
610,000+ words and phrases. The largest word list in the world
Download here:

I look forward to your clarification.
Thanks,

Hello,
I found that one yesterday when searching through Google Answers.
After downloading it, I was unable to open it. Tried to find a
compression utility program, but when using that, still couldn't open
it. Were you able to open it? Is there any chance you might be able
to forward those two files to me as .txt text files / ascii / csv
files?
Thanks for responding!

Hi again! Or possibly you might be able to refer me to a shareware
compression tool that would open this file? Thanks again for helping!

mmagic,
This file appears to be damaged. It won't open for me either.
If I locate another file, I'll let you know.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
