I am setting up a internet site that would primarily serve as a serch
engine for web serch and relational databse search. I have a concern
related with speed of rendering the serch resulst to the user. The
user in based in Sweden and the web and database servers would be
based in India (due to lower costs related with server dedicated
hosting solutions) I would like to know:

what will affect the speed of the rendering the serch results to teh
user? How to make the servive very fast even when the servers are based
in India? we all know that Google ahs the servers in USA and they can
serve very very fast search resulst all over the world!

Sys Admin Magazine had a recent article (November 2005) on this topic. Read it at:

Thanks larkas-ga,

The article was really helpful. I believe now that the best option is
probably to pay slightly more and have all the web and database
servers in Sweden (our customers are 95% from Sweden). This way we can
render the web pages and all the content from our databases in less
than 1 second. At least we hope.
