I am looking for large, 8 foot (diameter) ROUND wood (teak
perferrably) table. It is also refered to as a pedestal table, but
don't limit your search to that term. Please provide me with several
(3-5+) sources for this large dining room round table.

By the way, since it is so large it might be referred to as a
conference room table. Think "knights of the round table". Thats
what I want, a nice looking LARGE round wooden table. Simple, but
with some carvings/detail. It can also have a marble top (no glass
though).

One last comment I just discovered. It is also called a banquet table.

Also, I will consider a custom table maker with experience in making a
table this large.

Hi curiogeorges,

I have sent an email to a custom furniture maker that I have used on
Cape Cod enquiring about your table. I will let you know if I receive
a reply.

Just didn’t want you to feel ignored.

Hi,

There doesn't seem to be much of a demand for tables as large as you
are looking for. The largest premades are about 4' in diameter and
that wouls be much smaller than you are looking for. I did find
several places that have worked with making large teak tables to
order:

http://javanola.com/custom-work/index.html
The last two tables on this page are not round, but very large teak
pieces. They are located in New Orleans, but will ship to Miami.

Award winning furnituremaker Jeffrey Greene at GREENE AND GREENE
GALLERY in Lambertville, NJ (609-397-7774) specializes in custom work.
He also has an interesting apprentice program where he passes his
master craftsmanship skills on.

http://www.teak-collection.com/specialorderframe.htm
Teak Collection in Mission Viejo, CA (949-215-9202) does custom work
and specializes in teak.

http://www.bellacontract.com/about.html
Bella Contract will do custom work in teak, but they may not handle
direct to consumer - retail - jobs. They're in Kewaunee, WI and have a
toll free number: 888-461-3667

One of these shops should be able to provide you with the table you
want. It should be beautiful if the pictures on these sites are any
indication.

Enjoy!

Hi curiogeorges,

I received the following reply from Cataumet Furniture Designs:

“Thank you for thinking of us.

We have no problem making a table using teak. Before coming up with a
price, we would have to come up with a design. If your client has
something in mind, it would be helpful to have a sketch or a photo of
something similar to start with.

Needless to say, if the 8' dimension is for a solid top table (as
opposed to an extension table), shipping becomes somewhat of a
problem, but not insurmountable. Send us some more details and we
will get back to you.

Jim Rouse”

About two years ago, I used this company to make two Mission-style
desks and two half-round tables that can be arranged together to make
one large dining room table. When I don’t need a large table, the
pieces are dispersed around the house. I designed this table and took
my drawings in to Cataumet Furniture, and they produced, in beautiful
solid cherry, exactly what I wanted. I have no affiliation with
Cataumet Furniture, other than that of a satisfied customer.

Should you wish to pursue this further, I am including Mr. Rouse’s
contact information here.
