Copy protection company Macrovision has a product called Hawkeye that makes it very difficult for certain files to show up on p2p sites and also involves putting fake files out there to make downloading of material very difficult (see below). Are there any credible reviews on the web for this technology- i.e., does it really work and will it limit downloading once its rolled up fully by the movie studios? Can it be overcome by Bittorrent and p2p sites like that? http://www.tgdaily.com/2005/09/01/macrovision_floods_p2p_networks_with_bogus_files_to_battle_piracy/ |

This wouldn't affect bittorrent because you don't search for files on bittorrent, like you do with Kazaa. If you're using a decent bittorrent tracker, fake files would be pulled rather quickly. |
