I'm just wondering if anybody knows what kind of plant was in the
first Blade movie with Wesley Snipes. It had red flowers on it, and
was elegantly displayed in a Japanese-style setup. It served as a
'symbol' later in the movie in regards to "cutting off your roots".

I'm almost positive that it is actually two different plants, the
green one being perhaps a lily. I'm not sure what the flower is but I
think it's something that is commonly available in flower stores.
Hope this helps!

Hello...

I sent your photo to our friends at the UBC Botanical Gardens...
3 'experts' there all agree that it is a mashup of 2 different plants.
The flowers are in the Protea family
The foilage is from the Dracaena Marginata family.
Here are links to both seperately:
Protea: http://us.inmagine.com/img/thinkstock/q0021621/b0008928.jpg
Dacaena: http://www.dracaena.com/Marginata.asp

Hope this puts your mind at rest!
