Could it be that this is a German phrase? "Gnann" is a German family name: http://www.ancestry.com/learn/facts/Fact.aspx?fid=10&yr=0&ln=Gnann The phrase "die Gnann" also occurs in reference to a German-made tool, as in "die Ganann-o-mat." http://bikemag.com/features/gear/magura_gnannomat/ ://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=%22die+Gnann%22&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8 Here, "die" means "the" in German. If this is Latin, it is probably not a quote from Caesar's time; if
the quote came directly from that time, I would expect the name,
"Gnann," to be Latinized. That said, "die Gnann" might be part of a
prepositional phrase, such as "on/from/during/by the day ("die") of
"Gnann." In that case, it might be referring to something like Gnann's
birthday.
You may need to provide more context to get a good answer. |

Where does "die Gnann" appear? Could it be a misspelling - yours, or on the original document, or maybe an abbreviation or mistaken understanding of the letters? "Gnann" looks strange for Latin and German. Perhaps you can add a clarification. Intriquing ... |
