Hi, I bought a font a few years ago for my Windows machine - it came in a Type 1 postscript format, consisting of a .pfb file and a .lwfn file. I have since moved over to a Powerbook with Mac OS X. I attempted to put the files into the font folder, but they do not show up as usable fonts - from what I can gather some kind of conversion is required into a form of Type 1 suitable for OS X. How would I go about this? I don't have more than $20 to spend on software/tools etc. Thank you for your time. |

It says at this site http://groups.msn.com/fontlab/general.msnw?action=get_message&mview=1&ID_Message=5186 that a Type 1 font on Windows uses the .pfb file while the Type 1 font on the Mac uses the .lwfn file. Does it successfully install in OS X and you just can't use it? |

Yep, you're right - .lwfn is a Mac format. However, it seems to need a .ffil too (.lwfn is for printers, .ffil is for screens. See here PDF here: http://images.apple.com/pro/pdf/L311277A_FontTT_v4.pdf Sadly I don't have a .ffil file (I certainly don't remember getting one), so I guess I won't be able to use the font.
