I'm thinking of naming my company "Avanis", but I want to make sure
there aren't any negative connotations of the name in English or other
international languages.  I've read that "avani" means "of the earth"
in Sanskrit, and there have been a few men in Greece named Avanis. 
Could you find out all meanings of this name "Avanis" or any root
words?

Great idea to do that... I've often wondered why more people don't
take a bit of time to do some research on what they are going to name
their company. Orion for example, or Janus. Very unfortunate names,
but then most people probably aren't aware of the connotations behind
them. "Run-A-Muck" is the name of a local bar which just puts me in
giggles every time I see it.

Okay, Avanis doesn't have any reference in Mythology as a name or
place that I could find. There are currently a few companies that use

searching on Google for define:avanis brings up nothing. (if you
aren't aware of this search type on google, you can type in the search
area "define:" and then after the colon you place the word you want
defined. )

A search on Wikipedia also didn't bring anything up.

Since there seems to be a German site named avanis I tried to find a
German to English translation of the word, and searched on the
Wikipedia in German looking for the word as well.. came up blank on
both areas.
