I am researching pediatric (children's) medicine. I am seeking to identify those hospitals that have the highest success (cure) rates for CHILDREN'S cancer, major organ transplants, cardiac conditions and neurosurgery. (likely to be a different hospital for each category or sub-category). Could you please identify a reliable approach (such as league tables of published cure rates) to judge the performance of leading international childrens hospitals (& pediatric departments in 'normal' hospitals)? p.s. I am aware of US News & World Report's Best American Hospitals. I am seeking to compare hospitals in US & overseas, categorised into at least the four critical areas mentioned above. For the avoidance of doubt, I would be happy to have a greater degree of analysis - i.e. hospital with highest number of successful children's heart transplants = x, hospital with highest number of successful children's liver transplants = y, etc. |

For lists of accredited children?s hospitals and doctors check medicalcountries.org, http://www.cmn.org/web/hospitals/hospitals.htm, put in ?children?s hospitals? and ?international children?s hospitals? in you search engine. Your library has a book, which lists medical specialists in most specialty areas. Goggle?s question ID: 69025 in Google?s Answers may be helpful to you. |

Thank you for your comment. I am seeking ways of comparing international children's and departments based on 4 / 5 critical areas. The links provided have lists / access to US and Canada based hospitals only. Not had much luck with google searches - they may highlight children's hospitals (mostly in US), but not a way of comparing them. I'm looking for the world's best children's hospitals for major life-threatening conditions - and a reliable way of supporting the assessment (i.e. highest number of children's transplants in world, peer review, etc). |
