Hello texasresearcher-ga
Thank-you for your question.
I have spent a few hours compiling the list for you and have uploaded
it as requested as a text file. This file can be found here:
http://www.sendmefile.com/00150459
It will be online for a period of 14 days when it will be
automatically deleted so I would request that you save the file before
then.
The pages I found most useful in this research are:
http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/plasticandcosmeticsurgery.html
http://www.clevelandclinic.org/health/health-info/docs/3100/3188.asp?index=11067
http://www.aafprs.org/patient/procedures/glossary.html
http://www.plasticsurgery.org/public_education/loader.cfm?url=/commonspot/security/getfile.cfm&PageID=16158
http://health.allrefer.com/health/surgery-a.html
http://www.vh.org/navigation/vh/topics/adult_patient_procedures_and_therapies.html
It should be noted that these are not my complete research as I also
used a number of other sites and medical dictionaries.
On your original list you mentioned Tattoo Removal, the techniques
used for this fall under various skin treatments such as Dermabrasion,
Salabrasion, Excision or Laser Surgery. Because of this I was unsure
on how to add it to your list so if it is needed you will need to add
this. Further information on these techniques can be located here:
http://www.patient-info.com/tattoo.htm
Similarly "Asian Eyes" would fall under the category of Blepharoplasty
(Eyelid Surgery):
http://www.ienhance.com/procedure/description.asp?ProcID=3&bodyid=1&specialtyid=5
I would like to take this opportunity to point out that it is always
difficult to provide *complete* lists of anything so I always put a
caveat on the answer stating that this is the most complete answer
that I could discover in the time frame spent researching the answer.
The time frame is always indicated by the price paid for the answer.
If you know of any surgeries missing from the list that you would
require specific research on to discover their medical name please ask
for clarification and I will do my best to respond swiftly.
I should also note here that some techniques have more than one name
(sometimes for clarity for the patient, sometimes because the
technique is new and unestablished and sometimes simply because the
regular name has been changed).
Once again, if you have any further questions about this answer please
do not hesitate to ask for clarification. |

Hello palitoy-ga,
Thank you for working on this answer. I was wanting a more
comprehensive list, however. I had already found a list of the most
common plastic surgery procedures here:
http://www.infoplasticsurgery.com/procedures.html but for my needs, I
needed a much more comprehensive (longer) list.
The various cosmetic surgery procedures you mention below (skin
treatments such as Dermabrasion, Salabrasion, Excision or Laser
Surgery) should definitely be added to the list.
So for clarification, "cosmetic surgery" and any other type of surgery
or procedure that people have done to improve appearance should be on
this list as well. Thank you. PS: if it is not possible to compile a
longer list, then this request will be cancelled.

Can you expand a little more on what you require? Can you name any
procedure that I have not included on my current list? I thought the
list was complete (certainly there are no other techniques performed
by the relevant US authorities). The list will never be that long due
to the fact that most procedures lie under the same medical treatments
(such as the Tattoo Removal actually being a type of skin treatment).
The list you mentioned at infoplasticsurgery.com actually duplicates
many of these treatments in the list - for instance the list contains
many types of chemical peel which in my list would all come under the
same topic.
It would be unfeasible and impossible to separate all these treatments
as there are potentially hundreds of different chemicals that could be
used safely for a chemical peel for instance, whilst there are several
different types of laser that can be used in laser treatment.
Additionally with regards the the type of surgeries on the list, they
can be performed in a number of different methods (depending on the
type that the patient requires and how the surgeon prefers to operate)
but they would still all be called the same procedure therefore the
list would not actually frow in length.
From your original question I am certain that I have covered the
majority of the main plastic surgery techniques that are commonly
carried out. The research I have carried out on this has already
amounted to over 4 hours work compiling the list into the format you
required, trawling the internet for the information and searching my
medical textbooks.

Hello palitoy-ga,
Here's more information:
If a procedure goes by several other "names", then those names should
be on the list. You asked for procedures that are not on your list:
- cheek augmentation
- lip augmentation
- pectoral augmentation
- stretch mark removal
- etc.
My original question states, "I need a complete list of all the names..."
Thanks.

Cheek/lip/pectoral augmentation were all included on the list. These
are either explicitly on the list or form part of another procedure.
For instance on my list "cheek augmentation" is called "cheek
implant", "pectoral augmentation" is part of a "lower body lift", "lip
implants" would be part of "facial implants".
Before I proceed any further on this, let me be sure that what you
require is simply a list of body parts that can be treated with
plastic surgery?

I forgot to mention that "stretch mark removal" would form part of "scar revision".

Hi palitoy-ga,
I will simply re-state the previous clarification, "If a procedure
goes by several other "names", then those names should be on the
list."
Thus, if "stretch mark removal" (which is not on your list) was a form
of "scar revision", "stretch mark removal" should have been a term on
the list.
I am cancelling this question because I wanted to have the
"comprehensive" list by now.
Thanks.

I am sorry I could not help you further but my understanding of your
question was that you required the medical terms for each type of
surgery which I have provided for you. I am sorry you did not wish to
work with me further in refining my list.

Hi palitoy-ga,
It's not that I did not wish to work with you further in refining your
list. It's just that I believe I provided sufficient clarification,
and somehow we didn't "connect" on this one. Maybe next time.
