Amongst the major religions in the U.S., on what day of the week do
which denominations typically meet for their services?

For example, I know most Christians have services on Sunday, I believe
(but am not sure) that Jewish people have synagogue on Saturday, and
the Seventh-Day Adventists (maybe) meet on Monday...Do Muslims have a
traditional day of the week to meet? A friend of mine attends
services with his family on Wednesdays - does that imply what
denomination he is associated with (I'm just going to ask him, but
this should give an idea of the information I am looking for)

I've spent some time doing Internet searches and am confounded by the
difficulty of quickly gathering this information. It's easy to get a
yearly calendar of major holidays and observances, but not so much for
traditional weekly meeting days.

Of course, it's quite possible that some faiths base their meetings on
something other than the day of the week, or don't meet at all, or all
kinds of arrangements that haven't occurred to me. The more
information I can get, the more educated and happier I will be :)

In this document the typical day of worship of the six major world
religions are outlined. Does this work for you as an answer?

Sorry about the long delay - yes, that is the sort of information I am
looking for. Wednesday wasn't listed anywhere, but I suppose any
group can choose to have a meeting on a nontraditional day. Anyway,
that would suffice to answer my question, unless you can come up with
an even more exhaustive and detailed list. The more information I can
get, the more educated and happier I will be :)

Thanks you for accepting my answer. Please be patient and allow me to
look around a bit more. If I don't find anything else this evening I
will post what I have already shown you as an answer and close your
question. If I do find something more I will post that later as well.

Dear bokononist-ga;

Thank you for allowing me an opportunity to answer your interesting
question. This is essentially a repost of the information I provided
earlier in an effort to officially close your question. I continued to
search for additional information but the sources I managed to find
basically all said the same thing.

Moslems are required to do their prayers every day, but Friday is the
day they should try especially to go to a mosque for midday prayers
and hear the "sermon".
The major mosque in many Islamic cities from Africa to Indonesia is
often called the "Jami" or Jameh" Mosque = "Friday Mosque".

Seventh Day Adventists observe Saturday as the Sabbath.
