Question ID: 596256
How do I change who/what organization Microsoft Office is licensed to?
I purchased my computer from my college, and it still says that the
programs on it (Word, Excel, etc.) are licensed to that college. For
example, it says that Word is licensed to (my name) and under that (my
College). I now own the rights to use the programs, and would like to
change or remove the college's name.

I think this will help you but i am not sure if it will be the same for office 2002

Open your registry and find the key below for your version.
Office 2000
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\
Uninstall\{00000409-78E1-11D2-B60F-006097C998E7}]

Office XP
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\
Uninstall\{90280409-6000-11D3-8CFE-0050048383C9}]

Change the value of "RegCompany" and "RegOwner" to the required
registered company and user names.

Then find the following registry key for your Office version.

Office 2000
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\9.0\Common]

Office XP
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Common]

And rename the sub-key called "UserInfo" to "OldUserInfo".

Exit your registry, close all the Office programs and restart one. The
registered company should now be changed on both the splash screen and
in the About dialog box.

I wasn't able to locate the keys that you had noted within your
comment in my registry at all. Thanks for responding to my question
though.

I was able to find the key listed in the instructions that you had
sent me, but there was no 'RegCompany', and when I added one in and
left it blank, it was unable to solve the issue. Thanks for trying to
help

Here is different place to check in your registry, with information
similar to what has already been listed. This is where I successfully
removed the Company Name for my Office product. Navigate to the
following location in your registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData

This area lists the SIDs of the users who have installed software, and
beneath them, the products that have been installed. The easiest way
for me to find what I wanted was to perform a search on this folder.
Choose Edit>Find from the menus. For "Find what:", enter the Company
Name that the product is registered to. For "Look at", only check
"Data".

After you get your first result, glance at the DisplayName of the
software to verify what product you are looking at. If it is not the
correct product, hit F3 to get the next result. Hopefully you will
eventually find your Office Product. Then, open the RegCompany value
and delete the company info.

Good Luck!

I was able to see certain keys that were related to office, but wasn't
able to find RegCompany, or the name of my college in any of them.
Even with a full search of my registry, there were no clear keys with
the name of my college in them at all.
