Shaamu,

Your question has remained unanswered for quite a while, probably
because there are few hard facts to be found online, without
subscribing to a service! Let me shed a bit of light on what I have
found, which is not a great deal, in hopes that this will provide you
with the correct answer.

From Southern California Edison, this site gives several colorful
charts regarding bulb sales, for the US and California specifically.
For the year 2000, this site states that total unit bulb sales topped
2.1 billion, with 75% of these being incandescent bulbs, and
fluorescent bulbs taking 5% of the market. (This is in form of an
Adobe Acrobat document. If you don’t have Adobe Reader installed,
visit www.adobe.com and download the free reader, which is listed
under “Support”)

For Canada, some interesting figures:

Not what you asked for, but interesting nonetheless, is this chart on
number of bulbs and type by room (1993)

If this is not what you were hoping for, please ask for an answer
clarification.
