I have an <a href="http://reviews.cnet.com/Audiovox_SMT5600/4505-6452_7-31138516.html">Audiovox
SMT 5600</a> cellphone which I purchased on ebay. I've been very happy
with it. Unfortunately, I stepped on it and cracked the LCD screen.
Now I want to get the screen replaced.

Although you can buy replacement screens on ebay, I'm not particularly
mechanically inclined. I'd rather have someone who knows what they're
doing handle the installation. I know that there are places you can
mail your phone and someone will fix it and mail it back to you, but I
don't have a land line, and I don't want to wait 1-2 weeks to have the
phone back again. Normally I'd just call AT&T/Cingular, who are my
carrier, but since I didn't purchase the phone through them, I doubt
that would help. I don't think it is under warranty, and even if it
was, this came about through my own mistake vs. a faulty product. I
went to the Audiovox website and it didn't list anywhere in Seattle
that could repair the phone.

It seems like there must be someplace that handles it, but so far my
search attempts have met with no success. I work full time and go to
school full time, so my schedule's pretty crazy. I decided to try
google answers for the first time and see if someone else could find a
local place I could take the phone, along with how much they'd charge
me for the repair. The replacement screens sell on ebay for ~$30 so
I'm hoping it could be repaired for under $75.

It's really not that hard to do. You should buy the "keypad" from
ebay and give it a go. If I understand what happened, you most likely
only cracked the keypad and not the lcd underneath. The website below
shows how to take the phone apart.

I've two of these phones, one is mine, one is my gf's. I've replaced
the keypad on mine once and the keypad and lcd on hers once. I hope
the parts keep flowing...it's a great little phone.

Cheers,

mrwallingford (by chance in Seatttle...)
