Question ID: 59728
I own a Sony DSC-30 digital camera. I own 3 64 megabyte purple memory
sticks for it. Is there any way I can make my purple memory sticks
work on my Sony Clie MP3 player? I know that technically the white
ones only work, but is there some sort of work-around I can use? This
is SO terribly annoying that they require you to buy two different
forms of media that I am considering dropping Sony and getting a
Handspring.

This is definately not possible due tothe fact that the MagicGate
Memory Stock has an additional control set (ROM) .... and therefore
devices that require MagicGate MS will read from these control set to
recognize the MS as the MG/normal MS ..... what you are asking for is
to somehow emulate the MagicGate settings on the normal (purple) MS
.... unfortunately .. this is rather impossible ... however ... what
you may want to consider would be to purchase a Sony CLIE (those PDA
from Sony) which comes with the ability to play MS (that would be the
N710/760, T665 and the NR70V series). The CLIE allow you to play MP3
files off your normal purple MemoryStick.
