How can I get DoubleClick and eZula TopText spyware off my computer? My OS is XP Home SP2. I followed DoubleClick's instructions, including a download, but I can not find Performance & Maintainance in my control panel in order to go to devices which they claim will lock out their very annoying program. I would prefer using some other method, if possible, to eliminate it. "Locking it out" would not be my preferred option. I have MS AntiSpyware, Ad-Aware freeware and Norton SystemWorks 2006 software in my computer. | |

Go to START > Settings > Control Panel Double-click Add/Remove Programs, Select TopText iLookup , Click uninstall, follow the on screen instructions. Restart your computer. Find the file stub.exe or ezstub.exe. Open a Dos command prompt (from Start > Program > Accessory)., type the following commands: cd %WinDir%\SYSTEM\ (Replace it with the directory stub.exe or ezstub.exe is in) stub.exe -UnregServer del stub.exe or ezstub.exe -UnregServer del ezstub.exe Search the file ezulaboot.dll. You'll find it in Windows' Downloaded Programs folder. Open a command prompt and go to the directory ezulaboot.dll is in, type the following command: regsvr32 -u ezulaboot.dll del ezulaboot.* |

I recommend doing a full cleanup. The 2 best choices out there are: 0. Unplug your computer from the Internet (Pull ethernet or hang up) 1. Spysweeper at http://www.webroot.com/consumer/ (trial then $29.95) 2. Microsoft at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=321cd7a2-6a57-4c57-a8bd-dbf62eda9671&displaylang=en (Excellent, Free) 3. Let these programs do a complete scan and cleanup 4. If they are not finding anything or you are still having problems, go back to webroot and download window washer. run the trial and let it clean out the files. You probably have robots. That should do it. |
