Hi there, I?m wondering if major music labels do offer a service to artists / indy labels which makes available their distribution network / knowledge / etc. for artists / indy labels. One sample situation from many possibilities : An artist finishes a CD with his songs and now want?s to distribute it. Of course he doesn?t dare himself of thinking he could get a major label deal, so he is willing to take care of everything by himself. He now wishes to have a service handy which provides things like : * Advice & Support for questions regarding agreements usefull when working with other partners * Pressing / Re-Pressing the CD also in smaller numbers (including of indicating of what all has to be printed on the CD and why) etc. * Taking it into a catalogue with an unique ID (ISBN etc.) as the source to order it from * Getting some advice and supporting methods / services for ways of marketing * Shipping it to clients * etc. The benefit for the Major Lable * Percentage of the sales * Fees for the service * Indication of ?prime portfolio? contract worth artists in their ?secondary portfolio?, etc. * Effective utilization of their capacity * etc. Once in Germany I had a situation that there was a production house which created a ?Documentary Movie DVD? and was ?working? with Warner Brothers in the way that ... yes, in which way would be the question. They had the WB logo and where using their distribution network but had to do the marketing by themselves ... I?ve tried to find something information on one of the Warner Brother web sites but was not finding anything about it ... Me as a starting indy label am looking to get forward in these questions ... who?s got something for me ? |
