We are constructing an addition to our Tucson home and want to
evaluate the pros and cons between two options for the outside siding
construction material. The first option is slump block, which would be
similar to the current home construction. The second option would be
stucco/frame, which according to the builder would save money. What
are the pros and cons between slump block versus stucco/frame in terms
of insulation, cost, maintenance and other properties? Are there any
other trade offs that will help us make this decision? [For example,
the builder says that stucco/frame actually provides better insulation
than slump block, even though to me this seems counter intuitive.]
