I need a list of billboard pop hit songs as far back as possible.
Ideally from 1980 to today. The occasional rock is ok, but I really
only want pop. That would make 2500 songs. I also need the same for
country, though I'm not sure if they kept a billboard for country back
that far. Please also provide the country songs as far back as you can
find (but no further than 1980). I need the lists in text, no
particular order, like this:
song, singer (or band name if you can't find the singer's name) |

I recommend splitting this into two questions, one for pop and one for
country. Each will take a bit of effort to compile, but should be
possible.

Hi!
I can most probably complete the list for the Pop charts (Billboard).
But the real problem is with the country charts. I have the Top 100
Country for the whole decade of the 1990s but this is not from
Billboard. I still can't find a free list for the 2000+ though.
Knowing this, would it be ok with you to just have the pop charts or
as my colleague welte-ga explains, maybe you could split this question
so taht one will work on country music and the other one on the pop
side.

Ok you might not need to split your question if you will approve of this.
I just found the following: (Not verified if Billboard data)
1. Top 20 Country Songs for 2000
2. Top 20 Country Songs for 2001
3. Top 40 Country Songs For 2002
4. Top 100 Country Songs for 2003
5. Top 10 country songs for 2004
Will this be fine along with the list for the 1990s decade?

I really need more than just 10 songs per year. They needn't be the
billboard top 100 but they must be popular and well known. I'm after
as large a list as possible of hit songs from today back to 1980. Is
this do-able?

I can only find the more comprehensive list of songs for the pop
charts. Maybe you can heed the advice of my fellow researcher welte-ga
and split this question into two.

Please note that I would like to correct myself that the list I found
does not specifically say that top 100 pop hits are from Billboard.
however, they are well known ones. It is hard to verify if it is the
same from the Billboard charts since the latter can only be access
after paying a fee.
I apologize for this mistake. Would you still be interested in this
list? If not, I will let go of this question and give others a try.
