Does s/he has a Nobel prize  
and if so, is it in that field?

What other books s/he wrote?

Author is not a Nobel prize winner.
Author has written no previous books.
Author has Ph.D. in physics.
Author was graduate student of physicist who introduced the terms
"black hole" and "wormhole" into physics.

Of course, fiction is different from popularisation, but not that
different; agents do specialise and right agent will know the answer.
