Dear natalia16-ga,
According to Harris Poll Online, in the early years of the twentieth
century there were not enough goods for everyone who wanted them, and
the goods that were produced, had little variety. Product selling was
not a problem for the manufacturers.
Post WWII, economic and technical changes resulted in more
manufacturers, better products, and a greater range of products.
Consumers now had a choice of goods and manufacturers needed to better
understand their consumers and their demands. Marker research was
born.
