Complex video production was used to create the intro segment used on the TV program Discovery HD Theater. This segment repeats itself about 6-8 times during each program and lasts about 15 seconds. It utilizes multiple video "boxes" that stream across, move, and interact with each other. The segment ends with the words Discovery HD Theater. Was this produced in house or by an outside post production company? Specifically what are the computer hardware and software used for this beautiful video segment ? I am interested in the video editing program used and which type system( pc or mac or other) was used as well as the system hardware requirements necessary to create this in HD. If done by an outside company I would appreciate their contact info and are they for hire? If inhouse how do I contact them (contact person or dept) Discovery.com was emailed but I haven't received an answer Thank You. |

I have seen this- it is a cool video. I spoke to a friend who works in this department at Discovery. He didn't do the work, but said that this was done in house with an Avid Media Composer Adrenaline HD. The web page is http://www.avid.com/products/composer/adrenalinehd/index.asp. This is a professional machine that he said costs in the tens- to hundred of thousands of dollars. Not for home use. My friend asked that I not post his email. |

Here is some info on the folks and products that were used to put together advertising for the channel. Not sure what you are looking to spend, but the two products mentioned would be a much cheaper alternative to Adrenaline. The agency they mention might be able to whip-up the same king of thing for you... http://press-releases.techwhack.com/328/1804-definition-workflow-for-discovery-hd-theater-network-promotions/ and... http://www.adobe.com/motion/steam.html |
