I have compiled a list of rock and roll bands from the allmusic.com
website. This website publishes several reference books under the All
Music Guide moniker and is generally regarded as one of the most
complete sources of recording artists.
To compile the list I searched their list by genre and selected the
artists labelled under rock.
I have left the list complete with solo singers but can cull them from
the list if necessary. Phil Collins, for instance, was a drummer with
Genesis but would be culled should solo artists be removed from the
list. It is a fairly simple exercise to remove the solo artists but
it may be better for you to do this so that you can include the solo
artists that may be of interest to your readers, although I am happy
to perform this if necessary.
