depends on which country are you from...Small manufacturing may be labour intensive as in India etc and yet be competitive while in a developed country labour costs may be prohibitive ans you might need a technology based business.. |

When you plan a small business, there some points to be looked into: 1. The product should be best be a consumable (industrial preferably) 2. Should not be capital intensive 3. Should not be labour intensive 4. Should have a market 5. Should be able to compete and get into the market 6. Should be manageable without input of high technology 7. Availability of raw material ? pellets available abundantly 8. Workmen ? tool & die makers available everywhere 9. Should be profitable ? above all Have said the above, and after some consideration, the product that comes into my plan is Tungsten Carbide dies and wearparts It is a good product because majority of repetitive industrial activities depends on tungsten carbide products. One of the major industries that requires this is the welding electrode manufaturers. In the absence of these tools they would not be able to take production. A small scale operation could meet the need of welding electrode manufacturers. Further, there are users of Tungsten Carbide items who require high precision material and in high volume and price. Like paint, chain, stamping industry. Etc. Any day I would say it is ideal for a small operator. |

The trick is to find orders ;) If you could get sales in US/UK/Europe, there are nth companies in far east and India where you could outsource :) |
