Hi lasallemun and thank you for the question.

The real "experts on population" are those people who
study/lecture/research at population research institutes.

Pennsylvania State University
"The Population Research Institute (PRI) encourages, organizes, and
supports innovative research and training in the population sciences."
http://www.pop.psu.edu/

"Founded in 1989, Population Research Institute is a non-profit
research and educational organization dedicated to objectively
presenting the truth about population-related issues."
http://www.pop.org/

An excellent resource for organizations that study populations
http://www.magnet.at/heilig/Links/links_2e.htm

Centre for Population Studies
"The Centre for Population Studies (CPS) is a research unit within the
Department of Epidemiology & Population Health of the London School of
Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. CPS is engaged in the measurement and
explanation of population trends and in the evaluation of attempts to
modify them. "
http://www.lshtm.ac.uk/eph/cps/cpsintro.htm

Another type of organization that could be considered to be "expert"
are governments:

"The Federal State Cooperative Program
for Population Estimates"

Thank you for your question, and if you need any clarification
regarding my answer, please do not hesitate to ask.
