English is not my main language, so please forgive my errors. I'm writing a tale (in french) as a Christmas gift for someone I love. The loved one is female and shes 23. The main characters are a blue cat (female) and a black squirrel (male). To some extend, the cat is my loved one & I'm the squirrel :) I need ideas for a story line... Places, events, characters... Feed me with ideas! If possible, it would be great to have some links to literature forums where I can get similar help from a community of story lovers. Comments welcome! |

Interesting choice of characters, which seems very important. I expect that you would like them to have personal characteristics of you both, something you will have to supply. I've got no story line, just a couple of ideas: squirrels are providers, gathering and storing nuts in the fall to have food in the winter. Cats do a lot of grooming, licking their fur, something Blue Cat could do to Black Squirrel. They could exchange signals with their tails, and maybe eventually intertwine them. Cats purr when they feel affectionate. Squirrels' clucking/chirping expressions usually sound rather nervous, but maybe they could be interpreted as a "blown" kiss. Good luck! |

I once had a cat who hunted squirrels - he lost half his face once, but like most big game hunters he persisted If you want schmaltz, then try the squirrel raising the kittens in the tree, while the mother is fighting off rats You could introduce a sub plot where the squirrel (tree rat) explains rat kung fu to the cat. Personally I would not go there - it stinks of sibling rivalry |

Well, I had a little idea what it could be, so here it comes: There was a blue cat beneath a tree. She was a real beauty queen. From up a tree, a black squirrel this did see. She's so lovely, thought the squirrel, how could she be with me? I will ask her to come, climb up to tree, then she will be with me. Then the squirrel went and said to the cat, will you come and climb up a tree? As high as that you far can see. The cat looked up and said, I'd like to come but I don't how far can I be. The squirrel aswered, on time you'll be back, I'll promise that. Then agreed upon that, and climbed up a tree, black squirrel and the cat. I don't speak english as my native tongue either, so there might be some errors with grammar that I don't see. But if you translate it then it doesn't matter really. I translated it with bablefish but I don't know how accurately it translated. |

myoarin: Thanks for the ideas. I really like the intertwine tails idea :) quantummechanique: Nice one :) I will try to translate it to french correctly & post it here (the babelfish translation don't have much sense). |
