I need a little clarification on your question in order that I can
completely understand it.

To put it another way: Are you asking for the time of a trip from
Southampton to Swanage? By car it could be 1 hour 46 minutes. Quicker
if you drive faster. I haven?t yet explored train, motor-cycle,
helicopter or plane - do you want these included?

If it is, let?s say, 1 hour 46mins, then you want all stations which
can be reached from London Victoria (with no more than one change of
train) and that are also 1 hour 46 minutes from Southampton (by car).

Is this correct?

I know the time from Swanage to Southampton (by motorcycle, via the
ferry across the harbour mouth, not via Wareham), it's about an hour,
depending on traffic. I need to identify places I might move to that
have easy access to Victoria and are no more distant (in travel time,
by any every-day means---no flying machines) from Southampton than
Swanage is.

I think this is difficult for a me to answer with great detail, for as
I have found already, the time estimate for the Southampton / Swanage
route was calculated for a car. I?m not aware of any motor-cycle
journey calculator.

Also there are too many places you could choose. Looking at the map of
South East train services, it seems to me you may have to explore the
South Coast route, or the Billinghurst route. You can even with only
one change, go from Victoria to Southampton.

Chichester on the fastest train is 1.36 hrs from Victoria. Looking at
the map it may be under the hour from Southampton. Worthing is 1.15
hrs from Victoria but may be beyond the hour from Southampton.
Use the National Rail journey planner to see travel times.

Let's say that I'm happy with estimates of time from Southampton given
for car routes. Poole harbour screws up travel time estimates from
Swanage to the NE, hence a big part of the discrepence we've seen.
Motorcycle travel is faster than in a car, but that's ok as a list of
places based on car travel times would thus be conservative.

The question then would be: what locations are both 1 hour or less
away from Southampton by car and reachable from Victoria with at most
one change of train.

Does this help? There aren't all that many stations in the area. If I
had time to figure all the detail out myself, I wouldn't need to pay
someone else to do it :-)
