I am looking for a countertop hot water boiler for a restaurant that
automatically fills itself (requiring a water connection) and is
DECORATIVE. That is to say, most hot water boilers look like
stainless steel boxes and are ugly, can you find a decorative one, or
one that looks like a barrel or other shape other than a "box". It
should like precise temperature control too. Thanks.

Oops, not "like precise temperature control", "HAVE precise
temperature control". :-)

curiogeorges...

I believe I've found what you desire.
Feast your eyes on this baby:
http://www.kosmologik.com/production.htm

The ACQUABLU TOP HOT and the ACQUABLU
CLASSIC HOT both dispense hot water,
as well as cold, and the former has
a carbonator, as well. They both have
adjustable hot water controls, from
0-98 Centigrade, or up to 208 Farenheit.
See the technical data here:
http://www.kosmologik.com/technicaldata.htm

...and here's a cutaway picture of components:
http://www.kosmologik.com/spaccato1.html

The webpages above are from the manufacturer:

Kosmologik Industries s.r.l.
Via alla Costa, 34 - 17047 Vado Ligure (SV) Italy
tel +39 019 2160120 / 2162154 - fax +39 019 2161098
e-mail: info@kosmologik.com

"Kosmologik Industries produces under its
own trade mark, also on behalf of the third
party and is present in the Italian and
international markets." ...from:
http://www.kosmologik.com/ourcompany.htm

Their product is distributed by others, as well:
http://www.inpacvending.co.uk/water.htm

Neither site mentions prices, so you may be
able to negotiate with them, though I'd
certainly try Italian Manufacturer first.

Chances are, you'll be the first on your block
(maybe in the country) to have one, since a
direct search for the product name only turned
up the manufaturer and one distributor (with
two linked websites).

None of the other 4 results from a sub-search
for "hot water" on the Google Directory of
Restaurant Supplies turned up anything more
attractive than the standard Bunn units
pictured here:
http://www.dccoffeeproducts.com/product.html

Searches done, via Google:

"restaurant supplies" (directory search)

"hot water" (a sub-search of the results above)

Did you find others? The unit is too contemporary. I am looking for
something more appropriate for a coffee shop that doesnt look
institutional.

No, I didn't find others. As I said:

"None of the other 4 results from a sub-search
for "hot water" on the Google Directory of
Restaurant Supplies turned up anything more
attractive than the standard Bunn units
pictured here: "
http://www.dccoffeeproducts.com/product.html

Let me clarify:

A search for "restaurant supplies" produced
21,600 results:

A sub-search within those results for
"hot water" produced 192 results, including
many for hot water "hoses":

A sub-search for "hot water dispenser"
produced only 5 results:

One such result was for Zesco products,
"1st in restaurant equipment"
with a link to this page:
http://www.zesco.com/static/categories.htm
showing a huge inventory of products, and
links for "Hot Water Dispenser" and "Hot
Water Machines". The items on these pages
are collectively shown on a link for
"Water-Hot Water Boiler/Dispenser", here:
http://www.zesco.com/catalog/ics/SubcategoryContents.cfm/10/181/A/0/0/0/0/0/

The dispenser is attractive, as you would
prefer, but does not connect to the water
supply. The boiler, which connects to the
water supply, is the industry standard,
ugly, stainless steel box.

Altering the sub-search under "Restaurant
Supplies" from "hot water dispenser" to
"hot water heater" produces 8 results,
mostly unusable:

...leading to a link for a ceramic countertop
heater for home/office use here:
http://www.venq.com/simple/24027.html
which is not connected to the water supply.

Switching to "restaurant supplies" "water heater"
produces results for, yes, inline water heaters:

"restaurant supplies" "countertop heater"
produces no results.

Now I'm trying new approaches.

"restaurant supplies" countertop water dispenser
://www.google.com/search?num=50&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=%22restaurant+supplies%22+countertop+water+dispenser
returns 18 hits, and a link to SelectAppliance.com
http://www.selectappliance.com/restaurant.html

Oooh! They have a listing for a "Chinese Water
Boiler" here:
http://www.selectappliance.com/exec/ce-product/cc_cme-15e
It's a little more attractive than the Bunn, and
says it has an automatic refill system. Plus, it's
on sale for 40% off!
Well that was a 15-gallon model. Here's the 10:
http://www.selectappliance.com/exec/ce-product/cc_cme-10e
also for 40% off.

Let's try a search for "chinese water boiler":
Nope. Just 2 hits from the site above.

Back to the 18 hits from
"restaurant supplies" countertop water dispenser

Here's a link for RestaurantEquipment.com
http://www.restaurantequipment.com/PRODUCTINDEX.html
The Beverage Dispenser link leads to plastic
dispensers. So does the DeLuxe Beverage Dispenser
link. No water hookups, either.

What else? Nothing under "hot"; nothing under
"water". Nothing more on the page.

The next one, ConcessionStands.com
http://www.concessionstands.com/Contents.htm
has nothing under "water", nothing under "hot"
(for water). "Drink Dispensers" is for cold.

Hmmm...next is GyrosWorld...
Then Zesco.com - been there, done that.

Then FryerWorld.com - no cigar.

Then RefrigeratorWorld.com - do't think so.

Then an auction site....

Then srv.net:
http://www.srv.net/~smiler/lequlink.htm
with a link to "Beverage"
http://www.srv.net/~smiler/lequlink.htm#bev
with a direct link to the Bunn Company:
http://www.bunnomatic.com/
and to the Karma company:
http://www.karma-inc.com/products.htm
cappuccino, coffee, tea, juice - no water
and to Multi-Flow Dispensers:
http://www.users.voicenet.com/~multiflo/equip.htm
just soda & juices
and to the Wilbur Curtis Company:
http://www.wilburcurtis.com/
Hmmm... coffee & soup specialists,
though I guess you could use one of their
coffee urns to brew water:
http://www.wilburcurtis.com/equip_urns_auto.htm
Talk about institutional, though, they
even make them with safety features for
"hostile environments". Prison?
They have a site search. Let's try "water".
25 pages - soup and coffee makers.

That's the end of the srv.net links, so
back to the 18 hits from Google

ConcessionWorld.com
http://www.concessionworld.com/efindex.html
Nope - fryers.

FoodService.com
http://www.foodservice.com/foodshow/index_advanced_search_equipment.cfm
They have a search engine. I'll try
"heater" with all "Beverage" subcategories,
all company types, and Us - All areas.
Nothing
I'll try "boilers"
Nothing
I'll try "dispenser"
100 hits - juice, coffee, lids...
I'll try "water dispenser"
Nothing

Next is OpenHere.com:
http://www.openhere.com/shop1/food-and-related-products/foodservice-equipment/beverage/
which seems to be a collection of links to
beverage-related products.
Searching the page for "water"
turns up several hits, but none for
what you want. Just to be sure,
I'll run a search on Google:
"water dispenser" site:www.openhere.com
Nothing
"water heater" site:www.openhere.com
Yep. Water heaters.
"water boiler" site:www.openhere.com
Useless leads.

And that's the end of the 18 links
on the Google search for
"restaurant supplies" countertop water dispenser

So unless you opt for the Chinese Water Boiler:
http://www.selectappliance.com/exec/ce-product/cc_cme-15e
my additional 3 hours of searching will
have been for nought.

If I can clarify the searches or results
further, feel free to post a request for
clarification of the answer before you
rate my efforts.

The Chinese water boiler is definately better. It seems to have all
of the features I need to high volume hot water production. The time
spent was well done. Thank you very much@!

curiogeorges...

I'm so pleased that you like it. I admit to getting
frustrated with the lack of choices to offer you, but
the fact that you like it makes it all worthwhile.

I wish I could walk into your cafe someday and see it
sitting on the counter, making people happy.

You entered your remarks in the box for requesting
a clarification of the answer, which requires that
I respond with an answer clarification. If you're
happy with the Chinese water boiler, go ahead and
post the remarks in the box where you rate the
answer, and that will close the question.
