Hello

My grandparents, 83 and 85 years old, currently reside in Israel,
where they have state-provided health insurance. They are planning on
joining the rest of the family in the United States (in particular,
California) soon, but they are unsure what to do about their health
insurance. Unfortunately, all the tax money they've put into health
insurance in Israel will not transfer to any kind of care here.

My question is basically this: tell me as much as you can about what
the health care options are for such a couple (e.g., are they eligible
for medicare or medicaid), what each of these options would cover, and
how much each would cost given their age and civil status. I'm
especially interested in finding out if any private health care
organization would be willing to take them on. I haven't been able to
find one.

Please give me as much detail as you can pertaining to their available
options, and leave out all discussions of options for which they do
not qualify.

Thank you!

Hello fluffy_-ga,

How will they support themselves? What are their sources of income?
How much? What assets do they possess? What will be their immigrant
status? The more you can tell us, the more likely we will be able to
get you the information you need? Thanks.

> How will they support themselves? What are their sources of income?

They will be entirely supported by my parents, aunts and uncles.

> How much? What assets do they possess?

I'd like to know all the options, regardless of price.

> What will be their immigrant status?

I'm not sure. Probably "permanent resident" or "resident alien". My
parents are citizens; I don't know if that makes a difference.
