I would like to find out the value of antique ivory ekipas (around 150-200 years old) from Namibia and if and where they may be purchased in the United States. |

Anyone else - like me - who doesn't know what ekipas are can find out here. Interestingly, this site by the Namibian Chamber of Commerce and Industry suggests that they first appeared at the end of the 19th century. That would question claims that some are 150 to 200 years old, but often native artifacts seem to grow in age the further they are removed from their place of origin. http://goss.rho.net/ncci/htm/ncci_logos.htm |

myoarin - I still think it is legal to purchase ivory ekipas in the U.S., as long as they are made of pre-CITES convention ivory. But I still can't figure out a value to antique ones. Although it wasn't the exact answer I was looking for, you gave me some very valuable information. I'd like to transfer $25 to you just as a bonus. Are you able to send me a PayPal invoice, since I don't think I can transfer the money through Google? |

Mark, I am pleased that you found my comment useful. Thank you for your offer, but comments are free, and I enjoyed learning about a new subject, especially since Jadayu found a site that describe ekipas so well. Take care, Myoarin |
