Hi desertrat,

It's a misspelling (the actual phrase is "Mene, Mene, Tekel,
Upharsin") of the mysterious bibical (Daniel 5:25-28) riddle written
by a disembodied hand on the wall at Belshazzar’s feast.

According to The Columbia Encyclopedia, Sixth Edition. 2001. "These
Aramaic words may be translated literally as, 'It has been counted and
counted, weighed and divided.' Daniel interpreted this to mean that
the king’s deeds had been weighed and found deficient and that his
kingdom would therefore be divided."

However, other scholars maintain that no one can be sure what it was
originally intended to mean. The saying "handwriting on the wall"
originated from the "Mene, Mene..." riddle.
