Art Experts:

I would like a list of at least 25 (more would be preferable) of the
top (highest traffic or really top-quality) art-related content sites.
Do not include any online retailers (i.e. art.com, allposters.com,
barewalls.com, etc.) that sell prints and posters or art publishers.

I am setting up a page within my site (www.respree.com) of
high-quality art related links that have great content (large database
of info, articles, artist biographies, discussions on famous art pieces, etc.).

One example would be www.artcyclopedia.com.

Thanks for your help!

Greetings respree,

I must preface that I'm more of a link expert than an art expert but
it's still a passion of mine. In my three years on the net I've
accrued a pathological number of links, so the bulk of these came from
my arts favorites folder. I had a feeling they'd come in handy one
day!

BEAUTIFUL JOB! Thanks so much. Need to clarify one of the links you
gave.

The link for:

The Artistic Art Review:
http://www.artic.edu/aic/index.html

appears to be the same link as the Art Institute of Chicago (perhaps a
typo).

Could you please repost the correct URL? I tried to find it on the
Net, but was unsuccessful. Also, if you send an e-mail to
service@respree.com, I'll be happy to send the link to our page when
its completed!

Oh, great good Lord, I'm such a goof! I can collect 'em; I just can't
copy and paste 'em.

Try this one:  {crosses fingers}

I'm so glad you enjoyed the links as they were horribly skewed to my
personal tastes. If it's okay with you, I'd like to add more this
weekend. This project was way too much fun to quit now. ;-V

Best,
V

Oh, Garrick, you have no idea how that tickles me that I could even
*contribute* to someone's website. I'm sure yours will be the closest
to having one of my very own so I'll visit often.

In my mind I gave you too many museums and resources and not enough
criticism and discussion and that's what I'd like to focus on if
that's okay. I'm looking forward to some visual refreshment at your
site this weekend. I need to smack myself occasionally as a reminder
that there is indeed more to life than work. Finding websites for
people is my hobby and finding art websites is a technicolored
snowcone of delight -- not work at all! Thanks so much for the 5-star
rating and providing me with a most enjoyable way to earn some cash.
My creditors thank you as well.

Art hound,
V

Dear V:

Thanks again. You've gone 'way beyond' the call of duty.

I know how much work it was, because after attempting it myself, I
decided I'd rather outsource the project. To show my appreciation,
should you ever want to purchase an art print or poster from our
store, please e-mail me at service@respree.com. I'll e-mail you back
a discount code for an additional 10% off.

Clarification of Answer by voila-ga on 06 Sep 2002 10:30 PDT
It was very much by choice. Sometimes people have to kick me off a
project I truly enjoy. Quite a few of the sites I tried to access
were protected, which I guess means 'get off your duff and come see
the real thing.' I'm sure the internet has impacted all forms of
culture -- some to their detriment.

Thank you so much for your kind offer and I may take you up on it.
The one thing I enjoy more than art is a deep discount!

Be well, Garrick

Here is a really good site if your looking for images on just about
anything art historical, especially in Europe.
