Question ID: 600561
I have some Intel SBC2 mother boards with apparently corrupted BIOS.
This disables the floppy so I cannnot even flash the BIOS. The manual
mentions that the original Installation CD can be used to recover form
this situation. Does anone have a CD that can provide a copy or have
any other ideas?
Answer
There is no answer at this time.

I have my doubts that you could flash it from CD either.

I assume you mean the scb2 board and not sbc2. I would contact Intel,
because they released a fix that addresses an issue where bios
corruption can occur:

http://support.intel.com/support/motherboards/server/scb2/sb/cs-006673.htm

I imagine if your bios got corrupted as result of the error outlined
there, Intel would help you. You most likely will have to ship them
the boards.

Support for this product has been discontinued. I guess I'm out of
luck and have to scrap several systems.

Would removing the battery not help?

Removing the battery clears the CMOS. If the CMOS were corrupted it
may help...if the bios is corrupted it won't.

You might want to open your computer case & check the floppy drive's
connections (power & ribbon). Something may have come loose or the
floppy drive may have gone bad. You can pick up an extra floppy in the
trash ... any old computer will do ... just bring it home and take it
out ... no configuring needs to be done.

Good Luck

When the BIOS corrupts, there is no access to either the floppy or
CDROM. At this point there seems to be no way to flash the BIOS.
