I am planning to launch a website on a very niche are and am expecting
hits of 25-50 K per month. I am sure I can interest many advertisors.

Here is my question:

How can I implement a PPC mechanism which will allow my advertisers to
participate? I am looking for a software/service that I will generate
confidence in the advertisers that a proper tracking mechanism is in
place. If the advertiser agrees to pay, say $.50 per click, how to
montior the number of clicks and collect the payment? What are the
options?

A list (3-4) of companies that provide this software/service and some
pointers for where I can do further research would be more than
acceptable. Thanks a lot.

PhpadsNew is a verry nice open source solution for ads management.
Take a look at http://phpadsnew.com/two/
You can create different accounts for different advertisers and you don't have
to change anything on your webpage if you change or add another advertiser.
This is all done over that php interface.
It also has a a bunch of statistic and reporting possibilities.
I use it myself for some projects and am verry happy with it.
