I am a parapalegic and generally work and read in bed for comfort. I am looking for a high resolution lcd screem around 17 or 19 inches diagonal which can be detached from its base and held in my hands so that I can work or read from my lap. I have a wireless mouse and keyboard, so if this screen could also be wireless, it would be all the brtter. My problem is that I have a heavy Dell XPS laptop and is too heavy and hot to hold in my lap. Resolution of present screen is up to 1900 X 1200 or so Pleasr recommend brands or a method to find them that offer monitors with this capability. Regards, Chad Downs |

I think the nearest to a wireless screen would be a tablet PC - see http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/tabletpc/default.mspx They generally don't have real keyboards but use handwriting recognition on the touch screen, although you can use an external keyboard. Weight is similar to an ordinary laptop, although modern mobile processors generate less heat. Any 17 or 19 inch screen is going to be fairly heavy to hold for long periods; you might look at 'anglepoise' style or gas lift arms for wall-mounting the screen and swinging it into position. These illustrate desk mounts but wall adapters are available http://www.computingplus.co.uk/flatscreen.htm See also 'laptop and keyboard arms' at http://www.computingplus.co.uk/monitor-arm-range.htm or http://www.flat-screen-arm.co.uk/ Owain |

Thank you very much for taking the time to give me advice. I wonder if there would be a market for a screen that is 2 X 8.5 by 11 in. papers or less wit high res., but only large to the point that it can be hand held.. Regards, Cad Downs |
