Even though Google is really good for searching, it doesn't always
work. You can add references to the text, or basically say what you
want. You also have to know what surrounds your topic, e.g. If you're
looking for a new PC case, you don't just put PC Case, but if you put
these into speech marks, e.g. "PC Case", Google or any other search
engine will give you better results.

Take a look here for things to put into search engines for better resilts.

Let me know if this helps. I use Google myself and 99% it understands
quickly without really specifing what I actually want.

GOOGLE SEARCHING (HERE ARE A FEW EXAMPLES)

BASIC SEARCHES
Thomas Smith
Will find pages containing both the terms ?Thomas? and ?Smith?

?Thomas Smith?
Will find pages containing the exact phrase ?Thomas Smith?

Thomas OR Smith
Will find pages containing either ?Thomas?, ?Smith? or both

Thomas ?Smith
Will find pages containing ?Thomas? but not containing ?Smith?

All these commands can be mixed and doubled up so, for example
?Thomas Smith? OR ?Tom Smith? ?Butcher
Will find either name but not the word ?Butcher?

FIND A SYNONYM
Use ~ (located to the left of figure 1 ?uppercase?) before a word to
search for synonyms and related words.
~mac will find pages containing ?macintosh? and ?apple? as well as ?mac?

FIND A DEFINITION
Define:calabash Find definitions from various sources for the word ?calabash?

FIND A FLEXIBLE PHRASE
Use an asterisk as a substitute for any word in a phrase for example
?Tom * Smith? finds ?Tom Peter Smith? as well as ?Tom Smith?

A very informative book is ?The rough guide to The Internet? by ?Peter
Buckley? and ?Duncan Clark? Your local bookstore should be able to get
you one. A new edition (2006) was released in Australia in October
2005 and should cost less than $20-00
