This year, or maybe last, BBC Radio 4 read out Remembrance of Things
Past. It was probably in the classic serial slot. Who read the
narrator?

Here is what I was able to find:

"Neville Jason trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, where he
was awarded the Diction Prize by Sir John Gielgud. He is a familiar
voice on BBC Radio. For Naxos AudioBooks he has abridged and recorded
Proust's Remembrance of Things Past, released in twelve volumes. He
takes the part of Liszt in Naxos Educational's The Life and Works of
Liszt."

No, that is not conclusive. The recording was read out on BBC Radio 4,
which to me makes it unlikely was recorded for Naxos.

Dear macaonghus-ga,

The narrator was James Wilby.

It was a production by Fiction Factory. This is from their web site.

IN SEARCH OF LOST TIME
A 6-part Classic Serial for BBC Radio 4
From the novels of Marcel Proust.
Dramatised by Michael Butt and directed by John Taylor.

?James Wilby ? I wasn?t impressed by his Don Juan at the Lyric
Hammersmith ? but here I thought he was far more seductive as the
narrator and the adult Marcel.?

?James Wilby's perfectly judged narration..
FT ON SUNDAY?
http://www.fictionfactory.co.uk/popups/no6.htm

Corroborated in this article and other references through Google.
?for instance James Wilby, as the narrator, does not sound in the
slightest bit asthmatic, even when he's saying he's going off to a
sanatorium, possibly for years.?

"In Search of Lost Time" "James Wilby "

?In Search of Lost Time is considered to be one of the major works of
literature of any period. Previous English translations used the
Shakespearean phrase Remembrance of Things Past (taken from Sonnet 30)
as the title, despite Proust's exhortations to the contrary.?
