this is to buy some kind of Ir contolled input but its way to

software or hardware thats cheaper using my current laptop and video

More details needed.
Are you standing between projector and wall?
If you are, then how can you control the images , as you will be blocking it.

With the setup you are describing, I believe you also need a
camera(webcam) of some type to capture the shadow.
You might want to check out Intel's Webcam Games as a place to start.
They have some games that use the webcam to track your hands and face
to control the game. You do things like pop bubbles and swat flies. If
you could get the SDK you could probably make a mouse/desktop
interface with it.
(I have actually been wondering for years why intel hasnt' done
anything with it yet except games.)
The PS2 also has a logitech webcam that some games use, There is a
snowboarding game I believe that uses just the webcam.

The Intel apps are prolly easier used on PC though.
Hope that helps.
Travis.

I just noticed that you did mention the use of a camera.
Anyway..
I would check out the intel camera software.
You can probably get one of their camera's on ebay for $20.
(you might not need it, but they might not let you DL the software
without having the origional software)
